Urologists from the University of Michigan and Hokkaido University in Japan collaborate on study featured in Journal of Urology

The study focused on assessing the impact of differences in baseline characteristics and perioperative care following radical cystectomy.

Authors from U-M Urology included Drs. Cheryl T. Lee, Khaled S. Hafez, Jeffrey S. Montgomery, Alon Z. Weizer, Brent K. Hollenbeck, Ted A. Skolarus, and Todd M. Morgan. Dr. Takahiro Osawa, a former Fellow with U-M Urology, represented Hokkaido University as the study's lead author.

The study sought to identify potential avenues for quality improvement by comparing variations in clinical practice and their association with perioperative morbidity and mortality following radical cystectomy (RC) for bladder cancer in the United States (US) and Japan.

The study will be included in Vol. 195 of the Journal of Urology and distributed in May. Click here to read more about the study.
