2020 UM-SBDRC Annual Symposium

The University of Michigan Skin Biology & Diseases Resource-based Center hosted its first Annual Symposium on March 2, 2020 at the Danto Auditorium. With over 100 participants, including UM-SBDRC faculty, other UM faculty researchers, post doctorate fellows, graduate students, medical school students and others, this inaugural event offered a dynamic venue for scientific exchange and interaction. UM-SBDRC Director, Johann Gudjonsson said, “I feel this year’s symposium was a great success and will lead to new collaborations in skin biology and diseases research.”

Foremost skin immunologist, Michael D. Rosenblum, MD, PhD delivered the keynote address: “Immune Regulation in Skin.” Dr. Rosenblum is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at UCSF where he specializes in the care of patients with inflammatory and autoimmune skin diseases and leads a research team examining how immune responses are regulated in tissues (Rosenblum Lab).

Other presenters shared information about the Center’s core services and training, pilot grants and ongoing research. In addition, the symposium’s poster session featured 16 poster presentations, with six presenters receiving best poster honors.
