Our Team
Our DEI committee is composed of providers, trainees, and staff (clinical and administrative) who are dedicated to developing and executing strategic initiatives that focus on topics such as inclusive climate, patient care, and professional development. We welcome new members!

Youth Summit at the Big House
The Department of Urology had the privilege of participating in the 2023 Michigan Youth Summit. Thank you to all who participated in this amazing event!

Events for 2023
2023 DEI events will include speakers on disability and LGBTQ+ issues, outreach to middle school learners and URiM undergraduates and med students in our community and prepping the next generation of URiM urology residency applicants.

Book Club - February 2023
The next book to be discussed by our department will be Whistling Vivaldi: And Other Clues to How Stereotypes Affect Us, written by Claude M. Steele.

Events for 2022
2022 DEI events will include conversations about cultural complications, mentorship best practices, genocide and survivorship.

2021 events will include special Grand Round events as well as new UroVersity events.

Volunteer Opportunities
We will be offering a way for our Urology family to “give back to the community”. We have organized dates to volunteer at Food Gatherers in Ann Arbor that all may participate in. Volunteers will assist with preparing lunches and dinners.

DEI Highlights from 2020
This year, we celebrated Black History month with our colleagues in Neurosurgery. We also held the 1st Annual Michigan Urology Academy .
