Annual Department of Urology Lectures Arrive next month

The annual Chang lecture on Art and Medicine, and the Duckett/Lapides Lecture on Pediatric Urology will be on July 20 and 21 (respectively)

The Chang Lecture on Art and Medicine will welcome Dr. David Watts of the UCSF School of Medicine, while the Chang/Lapides lectures will host Dr. Michael Ost, the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Dr. James Lingeman of the Indiana University School of Medicine.

The Chang Lecture series was established in honor of the extraordinary Chang family linking art and medicine. Dr. Cheng-Yang Chang was the first pediatric urologist at UM and a steadfast supporter of the Urology Department. Son of the esteemed Chinese painter Ku-Nien Chang, Dr. Chang funded “The Shirley Chang Gallery of Chinese Art” in the UM Museum of Art expansion, in honor of his late wife.

Similarly, the Duckett/Lapides lectures take place every year to honor Dr. John Duckett and Dr. Jack Lapides, two urologists who made a huge impact on the U-M Department of Urology during their careers.
