“Under our typical circumstances, we would be celebrating together,” said Loulie Meynard, Director of Volunteer Services. “This time away has only made us more appreciative of all our volunteer do. We have volunteers giving their time to nearly every program and unit in the health system. They bring help and hope to our patients and their loved ones in ways that are truly invaluable.”
Volunteers comfort isolated, end-of-life patients, share their patient and caregiver stories, mentor others through difficult health care journeys, conduct research, run “wild” card games for the senior center, deliver meals to the homebound, keep equipment stocked and clean and guide patients to appointments. This is only a small part of the volunteer work that is accomplished each week.
“Our volunteers make our health system a better place each and every time they serve,” Meynard said. “We thank each and every one of our volunteers for the incredible work they do. We cannot wait until we are back together and able to partner with them again!”
