Visiting Medical Students

Students from medical schools outside the University of Michigan are welcome to apply for a visiting dermatology rotation in our department through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) website. We will be offering this 4-week in-person rotation during the following dates which align with the University of Michigan Medical School academic calendar:

  • Period 05: 05/08/23-06/04/23
  • Period 06: 06/05/23-07/02/23
  • Period 07; 07/03/23-07/30/23
  • Period 08: 07/31/23-08/27/23
  • Period 09: 08/28/23-09/24/23
  • Period 10: 09/25/23-10/22/23

Applicants are asked to submit a personal statement including reasons for interest in the University of Michigan Department of Dermatology. Applications are now open through 3/10/23 and students selected will be notified shortly thereafter for the available rotation periods. Although we will try to accommodate date requests, this may not always be feasible. Due to scheduling constraints, we are unable to do alternate rotation dates. Invitation and participation in a visiting elective at the University of Michigan does not guarantee an invitation for a dermatology residency interview in the upcoming application cycle.

Visiting medical students seeking dermatology training at the University of Michigan Medical School and who have demonstrated interest in issues of health equity and inclusion, are encouraged to apply to the Health Equity Visiting Clerkship. Sponsored by the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) at Michigan Medicine, and including a $1500 award, the aim of this 4-week clerkship is to promote the development of medical students interested in health equity and inclusion work. Please indicate your interest in the Health Equity Visiting Clerkship in the Personal Statement you submit in VSLO.

We are excited to welcome you to Ann Arbor! Go blue!
