Dr. Kocher is an emergency physician and health services and outcomes researcher who studies the delivery and performance of emergency and acute care. His research has focused on resource utilization, variation, and delivery system influences on the cost and quality of emergency care supported by external funding, including a career development award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (Keith Kocher, PI, K08 HS024160). He also serves as the Director of the Michigan Emergency Department Improvement Collaborative (MEDIC), which is a statewide collaborative quality initiative sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan/Blue Care Network designed to advance the performance of emergency care. As part of this project, he manages a diverse coordinating center team, oversees the maintenance of a robust data gathering and performance reporting system, builds partnerships with multiple institutional and provider stakeholders across Michigan, and provides the strategic vision to enable the project’s success.
