Lunch & Learn: Jim Cooke

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Topic:
Themes from I/ITSEC2023-military simulation & training conference

Description:
Outside of healthcare simulation, aviation, military and other industries have a much longer history and much more integrated simulation culture, development pipeline and collaborations with industry.  Many also have well established conferences bringing together thought leaders, researchers, educators and industry representatives, like the Interservice/Industry Simulation Education Conference (I/ITSEC), serving the DOD, VA, and all branches of the military.  The 44th annual conference just wrapped up in November and hosted over 17,000 researchers, industry representatives, educators and military professionals from all NATO countries and over 450 vendors.  This is well over four times the size of IMSH, the largest healthcare simulation conference, and had many simulation research and academic lessons applicable to challenges we face in healthcare.  I will share an overview of the conference, themes from presentations, recent research as well as trends from industry relevant to healthcare simulation.
