Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery

The Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) program is a comprehensive educational and assessment tool designed to teach and evaluate the fundamental knowledge, clinical judgment and technical skills required in the performance of basic gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopic surgery (endoscopy). FES was designed for medical and surgical residents, fellows, practicing general surgeons, gastroenterologists, and other physicians to learn and test basic endoscopic skills required to form a foundation in the practice of flexible endoscopy.

The University of Michigan Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) is a Midwest Region test center for the FES exam. Clinicians both within and outside the University of Michigan Health System may take the test at the CSC. The CSC schedules time slots in two-hour increments.

PLEASE NOTE: You must register for the FLS Exam through SAGES. Please visit the FES Program Website or consult the Exam Registration Guide for step-by-step instructions on how to register.

Once your appointment is confirmed, please bring the following to the FLS Testing Session:

  1.  FES Test Taker Authorization Code
  2.  FES Test Taker Voucher with Voucher #
  3.  Photo I.D.

The test cannot be administered without these three items!
