The MHPE program allows practicing health professions educators to leverage their current professional experience to demonstrate competence in health professions education. The program defines 12 competencies across 5 domains in order to become proficient scholars and future educator-leaders. Each learner is assigned a mentor to assist them in developing an individualized learning plan and to advise them throughout the duration of the program. Program faculty assist the learner in completing Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) that provide evidence of competence assessed through rigorous standards. Evidence of competence from prior experience has the potential to be applied towards credit in the program. For competency areas in which learners need development, a faculty member will assign key resources to guide the learner in completing EPAs. Learners complete projects from where they currently work with guidance from program faculty via interactive online group discussions, face to face meetings, and/or phone calls.
