Tuition

While the MHPE curriculum is not time-based, learners register and pay tuition according to the University's established administrative systems. Tuition is paid in six equal installments, typically twice per year (Fall, Winter).  If a learner intends to complete the program in two years, they may register for three semesters per year (Fall, Winter, Spring/Summer). The learner and MHPE mentor review goals, choose EPAs and establish an individual learning plan and timeline during program orientation. The learning plan is dynamic and may change throughout the program of studies as needed.  Additional tuition may be assessed if the learner exceeds three years.

2023-2024 Full time (6+ credits): $9,770/semester (Michigan Resident). $10,667/semester (Non-Michigan Resident).

Tuition is set by the University of Michigan Regents annually in July. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the University of Michigan, Office of the Registrar Tuition and Fees page and scroll to the School of Medicine's "Professional and Rackham" link.

Additional Expenses

In addition to tuition and fees charged by the UM, applicants should consider the following additional expenses that may be incurred:

  • Books
  • Computer equipment
  • Miscellaneous office supplies
  • Travel expenses - occasionally the MHPE program will host on-site activities, such as conferences, retreats, and workshops.  These activities are recommended but not required.
