Biography

Liz is Administrative Assistant Senior in the Department of Learning Health Sciences and is located on the 11th floor of 300 North Ingalls Building. She has been with the department since July 2018. She provides calendar support to Gretchen Piatt and Vinod Vydiswaran and has provided staff support to the Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Learning Community. More recently, she has provided staff support to the HILS program.

Liz has a degree in history from Saginaw Valley State College (now University) and first came to work at U-M in the University Health Services building. From there, she took a job in the School of Public Health while completing a teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University. She then went to Ohio to teach in a small sectarian high school and very joyfully returned to office work in the University. She worked in the Department of Surgery and then Medical School Administration before moving to the School of Dentistry. There she spent 20 years providing general secretarial and financial services support to the School, mostly working with basic scientists and their laboratories as well as assisting with the School's strategic planning process. Between Dentistry and DLHS, she provided research support in the Department of Anesthesiology. She refers to herself as a “Jill of All Trades” and considers a great day to be one in which she has learned stuff and been helpful.

She and her husband (who also works for the University) are active with church and community activities while acting as household servants to five cats. Liz is active in the local crafting community and continues her lifelong, peripatetic study of history.
