Google.org COVID Grant for Vydiswaran & Team

A U-M team including Vinod Vydiswaran has received $200,000 in funds from Google.org to evaluate equity.

The project involves analyzing electronic health (EHR) record data. A DLHS faculty member, Vydiswarn is a specialist in free text mining. He is part of a four person team from the U-M School of Information where he also holds an assistant professorship. The team will use Michigan Medicine EHRs, including clinical notes, to assess how equitable virtual primary care has been through the COVID-19 pandemic and identify what the challenges were in those cases.

This grant is part of a larger Google.org initiative which puts $100 million toward the fight against COVID-19.  For more information on the project team visit the U-M School of Information news page.
