Biography

Dr. Aparna Joshi has spent her career focusing on diagnostic imaging of infants and children. A lecture she heard during her first year in medical school at Northwestern University about radiology of congenital anomalies first sparked her interest in pediatric radiology. As a diagnostic radiology resident at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, she enjoyed the close clinical collaboration of pediatric radiologists with other pediatric specialists, the resilient nature of children, and the opportunity to teach pediatric radiology to more junior residents and medical students, confirming her decision to specialize in pediatric radiology. After completing her fellowship under the tutelage of Drs. Walter Berdon and Carrie Ruzal-Shapiro, Dr. Joshi moved to southeast Michigan and spent the first 18 years of her career practicing in Detroit, assisting in the care of numerous children and teaching many medical students and residents during that time. She is co-author of an introductory textbook on pediatric radiology for medical students and pediatric providers with her mentor Dr. Thomas L. Slovis and serves as a manuscript reviewer for the journal Pediatric Radiology. Aside from the clinical and teaching facets of her work, she is interested in quality/safety in pediatric radiology and the evolution of diagnostic radiology workflow.
