Hi there! My name is Jonathan Gabison. I was born and raised in sunny Miami, Fla. I completed my undergraduate education in political science at University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., where my love for college towns began to cultivate. Although I have always had passion for medicine, my life initially set me on a different path as a small business owner and traveler. I found medicine again. I attended medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y.. I am proud to have learned medicine in such a diverse, international place with a strong need for healthcare. I saw quickly how primary care and a strong relationship between person and doctor can lead to healthier long-term outcomes.
My connection to Ann Arbor is through marriage. I knew from the beginning of medical school that I eventually wanted to make my way to here. As a father, it is important to be close to family and Ann Arbor is a fantastic place to live (food, sports, culture – it has it all!). The University of Michigan Family Medicine Residency Program has a diverse patient population, combines academic and community medicine, and has an incredible faculty. I feel blessed to be here!
Outside of medicine, you can find me playing in parks with my kiddos, enjoying wonderful food, and playing/watching sports!
