Biography
Hola! My name is Julio Garcia-Castro. I was born in Los Angeles, CA, and have spent most of my life in Grand Rapids, MI. I attended undergrad at WMU (Go Broncos!) and medical school at Michigan State College of Human Medicine. My background includes clinical research and urban/underserved outreach.
I chose family medicine based on my experiences observing health disparities in my community and wanted the opportunity to do something about them. I also value the ability to hold long-term relationships with patients, to be closely connected to my community, and the opportunity to learn comprehensive medical knowledge and skills required to practice good family medicine.
I am thrilled to have matched at the University of Michigan, a residency program known for its robust full-spectrum training in both academic and community settings.
My interests in medicine include underserved care, point of care ultrasound, clinical research, and office procedures. In my free time, I enjoy running, lifting weights, racketball, dancing to any type of music, trying new cuisines, and traveling to new places with my wife and son.
