The National Board of Medical Examiners (MBME) Family Medicine Clerkship Shelf Exam will soon feature numerous new items representing STFM's National Clerkship Curriculum. It will be 90% authored by family physicians. The exam will feature 245 new questions that are focused on elements that were missing including mens health and health care delivery. As part of STFM's NBME Task Force, Joel J. Heidelbaugh, M.D., associate professor and clerkship director, was key in this achievement.
Dr. Heidelbaugh was also named co-chair of the STFM Medical Student Education Conference for 2014 and conference chair for 2015. He will also serve on the STFM Education Committee. The group oversees STFM's educational programs and curriculum development, plans the Conference on Medical Student Education, organizes the STFM Academic Track for the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students, recruits authors for the STFM Education Column published in the STFM Messenger, and focuses on the faculty development needs of members.
