University of Michigan Experts Awarded at International Mixed Methods Conference

Family medicine research faculty share their expertise at the 2016 Mixed Methods International Research Association (MMIRA) conference--on virtual reality, publishing, and “the new frontier” of global and interdisciplinary mixed methods research.

Michael D. Fetters, M.D., M.P.H., M.A., professor and co-director of the Michigan Mixed Methods Research and Scholarship Program, John C. Creswell, Ph.D., co-director of the Michigan Mixed Methods Research and Scholarship Program, and Timothy C. Guetterman, Ph.D., M.A., assistant professor, head to the United Kingdom for the 2016 Mixed Methods International Research Association conference, held at Durham University. As world-renowned experts and founders of the Michigan Mixed Methods Research and Scholarship Program (M3RSP), the research faculty will be sharing their expertise and leading sessions on a wide array of topics, ranging from publishing mixed methods research to envisioning the future of interdisciplinary and global mixed methods.

Dr. Guetterman will present in three conference categories, including a presentation on the use of joint display analysis in an RCT of MPathic-VR,  a new virtual reality tool in medical education. Dr. Guetterman will also be honored with a Dissertation Award for his dissertation “The Development, Design, and Test of a Self-Assessment Instrument of Mixed Methods Research Proficiency.”
