New Fund Honors Dr. Sheet’s Work in Medical Education

This fund will support initiatives and programs related to medical student, resident, fellow and faculty education in the Department of Family Medicine.

In memory of the staunchest supporter of family medicine education, the Department of Family Medicine has established the Kent J. Sheets, Ph.D. Family Medicine Education Fund

This fund will support initiatives and programs related to medical student, resident, fellow and faculty education in the Department of Family Medicine.

Dr. Sheets was instrumental in the development and administration of the required family medicine clerkship within the University of Michigan Medical School. Students consistently rank this clerkship #1 in the medical school. He dreamed up the Department's renowned Faculty Development Institute and, with R. Dale Lefever, Ph.D., emeritus faculty member, built it into the success that it is today. Beloved by medical students over the years, they made him an honorary member of both AOA and Galens. Countless family physicians across the country considered him a mentor and friend. It is unquestionable that he left his mark in our Department and on the generations of physicians that he supported over the decades.

This new fund will honor his life's work and his passion and dedication for teaching. To make a gift in memory of Dr. Sheets, visit https://victors.us/kentsheets
