Diane Harper, M.D., M.P.H., M.S. professor of family medicine, was recently elected as the Secretary/Treasurer of the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG). Her two-year term on the NAPCRG Board of Directors will begin in November 2018.
Harper is an internationally recognized clinical research expert in HPV-associated diseases, including prevention, screening and early detection. She has been a consultant with the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization to advise on global guidelines and set up screening and prevention operations in low- and middle-income countries to prevent cervical cancer. She has also served on the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which makes evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services such as screenings. Harper was the chair of Family and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Louisville prior to joining the U-M Department of Family Medicine earlier this year.
