My Health, My Choice is a feasibility pilot study of a mobile-optimized contraceptive decision tool for patients with medical conditions. We aim to recruit 10-20 patients from one AllianceChicago-affiliated Health Center over a 3-6 month period. Eligible patients must be aged 18-45, fertile, desire birth control, and have at least one chronic medical condition. Patients will be asked to interact with the My Health, My Choice mobile tool prior to their scheduled clinic visit.
About the Tool
My Health, My Choice is a theory-based digital tool that delivers contraceptive education and decision support in the context of 25 medical conditions. The tool has interactive features that can be viewed on a mobile device (iOS or Android), desktop/laptop, or tablet via a secure hyperlink. My Health, My Choice is designed for patient use prior to a routine clinic visit to help them prepare for a contraceptive discussion with the provider. The tool is primarily patient-facing with three modules. My Health, My Choice also has a provider-facing interface that includes the patient’s Birth Control Summary and point-of-care clinical guidance drawn from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contraceptive guidelines.
