Pamela G. Rockwell, D.O., assistant professor, has been named chair of the Group on Immunization Education (GIE). GIE is a group within The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
Their goal is to promote education about vaccines, vaccine-preventable diseases, and methods to implement The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and The American Academy of Family Physicians immunization recommendations.
The GIE’s special project team, of which Dr. Rockwell is a member, also produced a free and user-friendly mobile app called SHOTS IMMUNIZATIONS, a free downloadable application for iPhones and Android devices that was developed to serve as a point of care tool.
Learn more about the GIE at www.immunizationed.org. The website features information about recent national meetings and vaccines and policy changes to interested faculty, residents, and practitioners, stressing new vaccine recommendations. It soon will host a discussion forum.
Congratulations Dr. Rockwell!
