Tenure and Promotion: May 2020

The Board of Regents on May 21, 2020, approved recommendations for new appointments and promotions for regular associate and full professor ranks, and clinical or research faculty on the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses. 

Lorraine Buis, Ph.D. Assistant Professor, Family Medicine
Lorraine Buis, Ph.D. was appointed to associate professor of family medicine, with tenure. Dr. Buis is a health informatics and health services researcher with a focus on the use of mobile health and communication technologies for health promotion and chronic disease self-management, as well as work on clinical practice transformation and physician decision-making through the use of pharmacogenomics. Buis teaches and mentors undergraduate and graduate students, residents and fellows both at the University of Michigan Medical School and the U-M School of Information.
William Edward Chavey II, M.D.

William E. Chavey II, M.D., M.S. was appointed to clinical professor of family medicine. Dr. Chavey serves as Chief of Service for the department of family medicine. He sees patients on the Department's in-patient service.

David C. Serlin, M.D.
David C. Serlin, M.D. was appointed to clinical associate professor of family medicine. Dr. Serlin serves as Associate Chair for Clinical Programs as well as Ambulatory Care Clinical Chief. He sees patients at Briarwood Family Medicine.
