Biography

Steven R. Buchman is a professor of surgery in the Section of Plastic Surgery and a professor of neurosurgery at the University of Michigan Medical School. He attended undergraduate school at Columbia University in New York City as a Macy Scholar and medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, where he won the A.H. Robins Medical Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement. He continued on to train in General and Plastic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania where he won the Dr. William Y. Inouye Award for Excellence in Teaching before completing a craniofacial fellowship at UCLA. He leads the Craniofacial Research Laboratory, which is developing novel therapeutic approaches to bone regeneration.
