After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Figueroa matriculated at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Here, he developed an interest in treating diseases of the head and neck with a surgical approach. Upon conferral of his degree, he then matriculated into the University of Michigan Medical School in preparation for his surgical training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Figueroa gained an interest in craniofacial anomalies and regenerative sciences. This led him to conduct research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He also has a profound interest in public health, stemming from his experiences at Columbia University and the Centers for Disease Control where he evaluated health outcomes of low-income individuals receiving food-based assistance.
Dr. Figueroa is especially passionate about mentorship within surgery and healthcare disparities. His clinical interests include head and neck oncology, craniofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery, and facial esthetic surgery.
