Grant History
- 2009: Planning for U-M and Shizuoka collaboration and development of grant proposal.
- 2010: Awarded $1.4 million grant from the Shizuoka Prefectural Government to establish a family medicine training program.
- April 2010: SFM Program established; Exchange activities under the Shizuoka FM-UM Project Grant began between U-M and SFM.
- October 2010: First Shizuoka Delegation visits University of Michigan, including Kikugawa-city Mayor, Morimachi President and Iwata Hospital Director; (description of number of participants)
- March 2011: Completed first year (4 SFM residents at UM; 3 UM faculty over 5 visits at SFM).
- November 2011: Second Shizuoka Delegation visits University of Michigan. Delegates included physicians, nurses, midwives and hospital administrators.
- March 2012: Completed second year (6 SFM residents at UM; 3 UM faculty over 4 visits at SFM).
- March 2013: Completed third year (2 SFM residents and 1 SFM fellow at UM; 6 UM faculty and 1 faculty from Rutgers University over 7 visits at SFM).
- October 2013: Family Medicine Mixed Methods Research Workshop in Shizuoka, Japan.
- October 2013: First International Mixed Methods Research Symposium in Tokyo, Japan.
- January 2014: U-M Department of Family Medicine Chair, Dr. Philip Zazove, visited SFM Program in Japan.
