Jessi Gold, MD, MS is the Chief Wellness Officer of the University of Tennessee
System and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University
of Tennessee Health Science Center. She was previously the Director of
Wellness, Engagement, and Outreach at Washington University in St Louis School of
Medicine. She works clinically as an outpatient psychiatrist with a special focus on
college and graduate students, as well as healthcare workers.  She also writes for the
popular press and is a regular expert for the media on mental health. She has been
featured in, among others, The New York Times, The Atlantic, NPR, PBS News Hour,
The Washington Post, In Style, and SELF. Her first book, HOW DO YOU FEEL? One
Doctor’s Search for Humanity in Medicine, will be out in October 2024 from Simon
Element. Dr. Gold is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. and M.S
in Anthropology, the Yale School of Medicine, and completed her residency training
in Adult Psychiatry at Stanford University where she served as chief resident.
