The overarching objectives of the Protein Analysis Core (PAC) is to connect investigators to histology, imaging, and proteomic services.
The core is directed by Drs. Asma Nusrat and Yatrik Shah, two experienced and established investigators with extensive expertise in the services provided by the core.
- To deliver high-quality services and products, and to provide technical oversight of all PAC services.
- To provide reliable, accessible, state-of-the-art microscopic and proteomics technology to all UMGCR members that will facilitate their studies.
- To educate and train UMGRC members in the use of both basic and sophisticated cellular imaging, histological, and proteomic methods. Emphasis is placed on providing technical instruction as well as educating faculty on how such approaches can expand the scope and breadth of their scientific programs.
The Protein Analysis Core offers access to four service programs:
UMCGR Histology Service
This is a new service that includes a full-time histo-technologist, tissue processing, sectioning and multiplex IHC staining. Moreover, we have optimized a streamlined approach to process and section organoids.
Imaging and Microscopy Services
This now includes Center prioritized slide scanning, epifluorescence microscopes. Moreover, we will continue to provide expertise, training, subsidies and access to state-of-the-art microscopy cores maintained by the University of Michigan and the Michigan Diabetes Research and Training Center.
Cell Painting Service
This service uses high content automated confocal imaging and small molecule inhibitor screening.
We offer identification of proteins, posttranslational modifications, proximity-based protein-protein interactions and both label and label-free accurate protein quantification. We also offer single-cell proteomics using CyTOF. An optimized expansive GI relevant immune panel for mouse and human is available to center members. Moreover, cell dissociation, staining with metal conjugated antibodies, and bioinformatic support is provided to all center members.
