The Division of Hematology and Oncology is the largest subspecialty unit in the Department of Internal Medicine. The division is comprised of over 90 faculty, 20 subspecialty trainees, greater than 20 postdoctoral research fellows, more than 30 administrative and clerical staff, over 60 laboratory personnel, and over 30 physician extender staff. 

Faculty Positions

Hematologist - Primarily Caring for Lymphoma Patients

The Division of Hematology & Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a full-time medical hematologist to provide outstanding care to primarily lymphoma patients. This individual will join an outstanding team of clinicians and researchers as part of the hematology team providing clinical care and research opportunities to enable the highest success in treating patients with lymphoma. Our team consists of clinicians, clinical researchers and physician scientists focused on lymphoma and other hematological malignancies.

Responsibilities will include telehealth and in-person clinics, inpatient hematology services, clinical research, as well as educating medical students, residents, and fellows. Structured mentoring will be available to the successful candidate interested in an academic career in lymphoma.

Experience in clinical trials is highly desired but not required. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding and compassionate clinician and be board certified/board eligible in hematology. Holding or having the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the state of Michigan is required.

Hematologist - Specializing in Non-Malignant Hematology

The Division of Hematology & Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, and the University of Michigan Rogel Comprehensive Cancer Center seek applicants for faculty positions specializing in non-malignant hematology. Applicants (who must be either U.S. citizens or resident aliens) must be board certified or eligible in hematology with interest and expertise in the evaluation and management of patients with non-malignant hematologic disorders. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in patient care in a multidisciplinary environment, fellow and staff training, and clinical research. Academic rank and salary will be competitive and based on prior experience and clinical work.

Medical Oncologist - Providing Care to Veterans Primarily with Thoracic Malignancies

The Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS) and the University of Michigan are seeking a full-time medical oncologist to provide outstanding care to Veterans primarily with thoracic malignancies. The position is a full-time VA-funded position in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This individual will join an outstanding team of clinicians and researchers as part of the Lung Precision Oncology Program in providing clinical care and research opportunities to enable highest success in treating Veterans with lung cancer. Our team consists of clinician-scientists, data scientists and health services researchers focused on lung cancers.

Responsibilities will include telehealth and in-person clinics, inpatient oncology consults, as well as educating medical students, residents and fellows. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team and work in collaboration with the National Precision Oncology Program and Clinical trials program. Significant and structured mentoring will be available to the successful candidate interested in an academic career in thoracic oncology.

Experience in clinical trials and/or translational research/data science is required. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding and compassionate clinician and be board certified/board eligible in oncology. Holding or having the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the state of Michigan is required. Prior research experience in lung cancer is preferred as demonstration of interest.

The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System is closely affiliated with the University of Michigan Health System.  An academic appointment in the University of Michigan Department of Internal Medicine and Division of Hematology-Oncology will be commensurate with experience.

Cancer Network of West Michigan - Hematology/Oncology Providers

The Cancer Network of West Michigan based in Grand Rapids, a joint venture between Mercy Health and Metro Health – University of Michigan Health, is seeking board certified/board eligible Hematology/Oncology providers (MD/DO) to join a well-established and expanding oncology program. Ideal candidates will be able to collaborate effectively within an expanding integrated health system, have excellent communication skills and evidence of clinical competence, and will hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the state of Michigan.
