Gipson, Debbie Sue M.S., M.D.

Specialty: Pediatric Nephrology
Clinical Interests: Dr. Gipson's clinical interests focus on the treatment of children with nephrotic syndrome, including focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and minimal change disease; glomerular diseases; and chronic kidney disease.
Research Interests: Dr. Gipson is the principal investigator and co-investigator for clinical trials and long-term outcome studies for children and adults with nephrotic syndrome, including focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and minimal change disease. This effort is augmented by research of best practices for the care of individuals with nephrotic syndrome and the generation of clinical practice guidelines for the management of childhood onset nephrotic syndrome. Dr. Gipson's research team is engaged in understanding the impact kidney disease on brain function and quality of life in children. Dr. Gipson is the Associate Director for the UM Clinical Research Management workgroup of the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research.

Gipson, Patrick Evan M.D.
Specialty: Nephrology, Adult and Pediatric Nephrology
Clinical Interests: I have interests in general nephrology for adults and children, but special clinical interest and experience in inherited kidney diseases and glomerular diseases.
Research Interests: Dr Gipson research interest is in glomerular disease treatment and in the diagnosis of inherited kidney diseases and utility of genetic testing.

Kershaw, David Berrey M.D.
Specialty: Pediatric Nephrology
Clinical Interests: Glomerulonephritis and nephrotic syndrome. Therapy of childhood nephrotic syndrome.  Renal transplantation and immunology
Research Interests: Clinical trials in Transplantation, Nephrotic Syndrome
Luckritz, Kera Elizabeth D.O.
Specialty: Pediatric Nephrology and Dialysis
Clinical Interests: Dr Luckritz’s clinical interests include general inpatient and outpatient nephrology including critical care nephrology.  She is the medical director of Pediatric Dialysis services for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and oversees both inpatient and outpatient dialysis services.
Research Interests: Dr Luckritz’s research includes both acute and chronic pediatric dialysis and focuses on quality assessment and improvement of outcomes in pediatric patients receiving dialysis.

Sampson, Matthew Gordon M.D.  Twitter: @kidneyomicsamps

Specialty: Pediatric Nephrology
Clinical Interests: Dr. Sampson’s current clinical interests include nephrotic syndrome, congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, and communicating genetic information to patients and their families.
Research Interests:  The focus of Dr Sampson’s Laboratory is to gain an understanding of the genomic factors associated with the development and progression of nephrotic syndrome.  The lab uses an integrative genomics approach to link genetic, transcriptomic, histologic, and clinical data in order to discover novel NS-associated genetic factors and to mechanistically characterize those already know. Recent projects focus on the prevalence and clinical correlates of patients with monogenic forms of nephrotic syndrome and the molecular mechanisms and clinical outcomes associated with African-Americans with APOL1¬-associated proteinuric kidney disease.   Dr. Sampson is   the co-chair of the Genetics/Genomics and APOL1 working group of the Nephrotic Syndrome Study Network (NEPTUNE) and also performs genetic studies in collaboration with investigators from the U.S. and abroad.
