On December 9, 2020, Sheri Hicks, a peer mentor for the Scleroderma Program, was honored with the Celeste Castillo Lee Peer Mentoring Award, which is awarded annually to two peer mentors by the Office of Patient Experience. Mary Alore, also a Scleroderma Program peer mentor, was recognized as a finalist. The Celeste Castillo Lee Peer Mentoring Award, created to honor Celeste Castillo’s contributions and career, recognizes volunteer peer mentors who go above and beyond in improving the patient experience.

“Sheri has always had a big vision for the Scleroderma Peer Mentor Program. Sheri pours her heart and soul into the program. The Scleroderma team is a family to her that blesses her as well. Her compassion for her mentees has kept the patients together during the pandemic. She continues to work on growing the program and supporting patients,” said Melissa Cunningham, Volunteer Coordinator with the Office of Patient Experience.

Congratulations to Sheri and Mary!
